Daymoon Play Therapy is safe space for your child's emotional journey tucked away in Loughborough, Leicestershire.

Compassionate, holistic and evidence-backed play therapy that puts your child at its heart from day one.

Play and Creative Arts Therapy

Children experience emotions they may not yet have the words to express. Feelings can show up through quiet withdrawal, emotional outbursts, or changes in behaviour. Behind these behaviours is a child seeking connection, understanding, and support.

Parents and carers face their own challenges as they guide their child through an increasingly complex world. Balancing love with healthy boundaries, nurturing meaningful relationships, and helping a child build resilience can be overwhelming.

Through play therapy, I help your child understand their emotions, communicate their needs, and build healthy relationships. By creating a space where your child's voice is heard and every feeling is acknowledged, I guide them to grow with confidence, compassion, and hope.

Group play therapy sessions bring children together in a safe and supportive environment where they can learn, grow, and connect.

I deliver tailored group play therapy sessions in primary schools across Leicestershire, providing specialised support focusing on key areas such as self-esteem, school transitions, friendship skills, emotional regulation, and anxiety management.

A safe, supportive space for your child to express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences through play. I guide them to explore emotions, build confidence, develop coping skills, and strengthen their emotional wellbeing at their own pace.

Your child leads the sessions with no expectations. They choose from a range of creative arts materials and activities, including:

Is play therapy right for my child?

What is play therapy?

Who is play therapy for?

I support children experiencing mild, moderate or more complex emotional and psychological challenges, helping them better understand themselves, strengthen relationships and reach their full potential.

Your child may benefit from play therapy if they are experiencing:

  • Anxiety, worries, and school-related stress

  • Difficulties with emotional regulation (anger, meltdowns)

  • Low self-esteem and lack of confidence

  • Life transitions (family separation, divorce, grief, moving home, changing schools)

  • Attachment difficulties and trauma histories

  • Social challenges and difficulties making friends

  • Neurodivergence including autism, ADHD, dyspraxia, and other learning differences

In play therapy, play and art materials are used to help children express themselves. Play therapy should:

  • Be non-directive, letting children grow at their own pace

  • Encourage children to explore and understand their emotions

  • Help children make sense of confusing or overwhelming experiences

At Daymoon Play Therapy, sessions are child-led, meaning that children choose how they express themselves. In the playroom, children can use a wide range of creative resources such as toys, art materials, sand, therapeutic stories, music and imaginative play to communicate.

Rather than asking your child to talk before they are ready, I meet them exactly where they are. Through our therapeutic relationship and the creative process of play, I guide them to grasp their emotions and navigate what they are going through, helping them gradually build greater self-awareness, resilience, confidence and healthier ways of coping.
